New Balance x Todd Snyder 237 "City Gym" Exclusive

Todd Snyder + New Balance

Inspired by Todd’s first pop-up on New York’s Elizabeth Street in 2013, Snyder’s limited-edition New Balance 237 “City Gym” pays homage to a time when the palette for workout clothes was gray and gray — a color scheme that looks chic on this waffle-treaded throwback to 70s-era running shoes.

The silhouette of the sneaker is the 237, New Balance’s contemporary reinterpretation of ‘70s running heritage that melds a range of heritage design inspirations into one deceptively simple, exceptionally versatile, contemporary silhouette. Details include an oversized, chenille ‘N’ and satin-and-suede body. In a nod to vintage running shoes, the tongue is made of exposed foam layered in ripstop nylon, while the interior is lined in terry cloth (like the inside of your favorite sweatshirt). This sneaker taps into everything we love about old-school athletic style and presents it in a new-school way.

Great-Looking and Surprisingly Comfortable Shoes

The shoes look even better than the photos - the hairy suede and waffle sole give the shoes nice texture and retro vibes. I was also surprised by how comfortable the shoes are. In the past, I've found that lifestyle New Balances that are not in the 990 family to be a little uncomfortable, but these sneakers have lots of cushion.

Shoe

I like it mostly. The pics on the website didn't really capture the shaggy sweatpants-like fabric on the heel and toe, or the shiny nylon-like fabric elsewhere. I like the shoes and wear them every day but they're more casual than I expected because of the above.

Never knew I wanted my footwear to look like old gym clothes!!

It just looks great and comfortable to boot (pun intended). I used to get compliments on my farmer market series pairs but this pair in my opinion looks a lot better. First time buying the 237's and they fit great. My feet are on the wide side and they do not feel squished in this pair.

Might be worth a second…

I have more than 20 (less than 50 😂)pairs of NB shoes and this is only pair I’ve paid full price for, and it’s quickly become my favorite. My size was sold out for a few days, and when it popped back up, I snagged a pair quickly. Don’t lose out, I’m considering a second. Bold 237 update/design, though my pair did have a few loose threads, they are luxe, yet rugged looking.

This sneaker is all I ever need

I don't think I have ever purchased a sneaker that fits my personality more than this one. The attention to detail, retro vibe, and comfort caused me to buy a backup pair immediately. I have 7 pair of sneakers and this one is head and shoulders above the rest for me. Thanks for this fire collaboration. All I can say is WOW.
