As a longtime aficionado of vintage Champion, Mark McNairy seemed the perfect guest designer for Todd’s latest Champion capsule. “In the Nineties, I was traveling to Japan a lot, and my first stop was always this Champion store in Tokyo,” remembers McNairy. “They sold vintage styles that would make me lose my mind, and I started collecting them.”
For this hoodie, Mark took as his inspiration a vintage style in which the hood is sewn onto a crewneck (the style is sometimes called “an after hood.”) The sweatshirt is Made in L.A. from genuine French Terrycloth and has a solid yet soft handfeel. Other design details include a kangaroo pocket, natural drawcords and raglan armholes. The fit is slight more relaxed than our traditional hoodies. The pattern of repeating daisies is both McNairy’s nod to flower power, and the way that he perceives hippies to be the beginning of street style. It is also a nod to his daughter, whose name is Daisy.

I wanted to love this hoodie. The pattern and color are spot on but I wasn’t a fan of the straight cut of the neck. This sweatshirt definitely runs big. I’m 5’ 10”, 207lbs. I ordered the large but definitely should have ordered the medium.
Love this comfy hoodie! Yes, it does run a “tad” large, but that’s a positive in my opinion. It is SO soft-more like a typical Champion hoodie…not traditional looped terry, which I find scratchy. Appliqué is high quality.
