Please note: All sales final for this item.

Inspired by a vintage British military style, our modern update to the Gurkha Trouser is a bestseller. It’s back for the season in the perfect transitional fabric, a warm-but-breathable wool and linen blend from the renowned Subalpino Mill in Italy, in a subtle black-and-gray pinstripe that goes with almost anything. Design details include a double-pleated front and an adjustable, self-belted cummerbund-style waist that’s meant to sit slightly higher than a typical pant would. The fit is relaxed through the upper section of the trouser and tailored through the leg. The beauty of the gurkha is that its structure and shape instantly dress up any outfit, even if you’re only throwing on a tee.

Founded in 1975, Subalpino is a family-owned mill in the Northern Italian region of Piedmont with an unwavering commitment to quality.

Not quite what I expected

I took a bit of a risk with these, because I usually have a more western aesthetic, but wanted to go for a different look for a wedding. It's possible this looks better on a super lean person. I'm a 5'7" and 170lbs masculine afab person who lifts weights and has a slightly thicker physique overall. I thought overall it looked pretty decent at some angles and quite weird in others. I would recommend if you are a thicker person, be prepared for it not to look like the photos. I think these would look way better if I was about 15-20lbs leaner and got a smaller size. That one is on me for thinking I could pull these off all the way.

My biggest issue with these pants is the situation for doing them up and undoing them. You need to undo both notched attachments on the left and right sides which can be a little tricky but totally doable, do your business, and then do them back up, and the difficulty of doing so is what inspired me to write this review (I almost never write reviews). It's hard to explain, but you have to thread the left mini belt thing, which is very soft and limp, through a very narrow slot, then thread it through the buckle, get the prong through the punch hole, and do the other side perfectly semi-simultaneously or it keeps coming undone and you have to start over. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that at this wedding, where I was drinking and using the restroom a lot, I was the cause of major bathroom line lags because it would take me 5-8 minutes each time…

Fit is quite odd

Took a risk on these, as I thought they would likely be a staple piece in my wardrobe. The tailoring is quite odd, the top block has fabric somewhat loose in some areas, and tight in others, while the tapering is aggressive and cropped in a way that doesn't match the otherwise timeless / classic aesthetic the pants are going for

Hi AJ,

We're sorry to hear that the fit of these pants did not workout for you. Our gurkha pants has a relaxed fit around the upper section of the trouser like British military pants, which we understand may not work for everyone once its tried on.

Best,

The Todd Snyder Team

Go to warm weather pant

I wore these pants at least once a week last summer/ fall, they are fantastic. They're like a refined beach pant in terms of comfort (a little stiff at first, but do break in). Ts, Camp shirts, button downs, tucked in or out, it has worked with everything. The waist fastening is more like a traditional Gurkha pant/short, with both tabs free to move and tighten so be aware of that if you've tried to other versions. I wear them to cycle commute to work, so they're a hardy, well made pant, not delicate.

I'm 6'1", 195 lbs and have this pant in a 35 waist.

Nice looking pants with a horrible fit.

Fabric and look is great, exactly what you’d expect from Todd Snyder! The fit however is not. There’s a good amount of extra room in the crotch area that leaves for a very unflattering look. I’ve bought from Todd Snyder in the past and never had an item meet such low expectations with fit. I’d stay clear of this item.
