As elegant as casual gets, our Madison Suit Jacket represents the epitome of soft tailoring. Both easy-wearing and sharp, it’s what the Italian courtier, diplomat, and author Baldassare Castiglione must have had in mind when he coined the term sprezzatura to describe effortless nonchalance. The fabric is a chunky Italian corduroy from Duca Visconti; it has a classic fit, with a natural shoulder and a slightly nipped-in waist. Details include a double vent in the back and a lightweight butterfly lining. There’s also a chest pocket known as a barchetta (Italian for “little boat”) because the sleek curvature of the pocket resembles a small skiff.

Nestled in the foothills of the Italian Alps, Duca Visconti has been making corduroy, velvet and other exceptionally well-crafted fabrics for nearly 200 years.
