As elegant as casual gets, our Madison Suit Jacket represents the epitome of soft tailoring. Both easy-wearing and sharp, it’s what the Italian courtier, diplomat, and author Baldassare Castiglione must have had in mind when he coined the term sprezzatura to describe effortless nonchalance. The fabric is an Italian linen herringbone with just the right amount of texture, in the perfect, wear-with-anything shade of dove gray. It has a classic fit, with a natural shoulder and a slightly nipped-in waist. Details include a double vent in the back and a lightweight butterfly lining. There’s also a chest pocket known as a barchetta (Italian for “little boat”) because the sleek curvature of the pocket resembles a small skiff.
The fabric for this jacket comes from Subalpino. Founded in 1975, Subalpino is a family-owned mill in the Northern Italian region of Piedmont with an unwavering commitment to quality.

The photos don’t do it justice; the herringbone pattern is very subtle but up close adds depth and interest. It’s brighter than the photos on the website. It’s made from an Italian linen, so if you’re used to Irish linen then this is going to feel much lighter and is going to wrinkle more. But it will also breathe better. Seems like the perfect casual summer suit. The sleeves are a bit tighter than I’d like, but otherwise the fit is great and seems true to size.
Poor jacket fit. Didn't hold shape. Really disappointed.
