This runway piece takes one of Todd’s favorite silhouettes — the rugged and practical Shirt Jacket, an MVP of all-season layering — and reinvents it for spring with a one-of-a-kind fabric. A blend of lightweight linen and supersoft viscose, it’s woven in Italy, and is essentially a twill with a subtle wave pattern. The true star of the show, though, is the fil coupé pattern, which translates to "cut threads" in English, and is a jacquard technique that involves cutting the weft threads on the fabric’s back. It’s a precision two-step process that few mills can properly achieve, but the final effect — a lustrous sheen with a mid-century look and feel — made it worth seeking out.
