The king of coats. The be-all and end-all of cold-weather dressing. An ode to outerwear. This luxurious balmacaan is crafted from incredibly soft and plush Italian wool, woven in a glen plaid (named for the valley of Glenurquhart in Scotland). The balmacaan itself is also Scottish, named for an area near Inverness where it’s thought to have originated in the 19th century. Our take honors the classic fit — long and relaxed, a true topcoat. The utility-inspired detailing includes two patch-and-flap pockets at the hip and a generous ticket pocket. The collar lays flat; button it all the way to the top and pop it for a close, warm fit.
With an almost obstinate focus on quality — from raw materials and colors to designs — the family-owned Lanificio Subalpino Mill has been creating exceptional fabrics since 1975.
