Guanábana Espadrilles in Orange Check

Designed in Spain, handwoven in Colombia by Wayuu artisans, and constructed back in Spain using 15th-century techniques, these espadrilles combine the best of Europe and Latin America in one special shoe. The toe features Guanabana’s striking hand-crocheted patterns (peep the orange-and-blue check), the heel is soft suede, the midsole is braided jute and the outsole is rubber for assured traction. Heads up: these will feel tight at first, but the suede stretches out over time — we recommend choosing your normal size, or even sizing down if you fall in between two. Beautiful and comfortable, these espadrilles are a perfect choice on sunny days.

Guanabana’s boho-chic designs are the realization of founder Almudena Espinosa’s dream to make a lasting positive impact on artisan communities. Founded in 2005 and based in Madrid, the brand’s entirely handmade styles showcase both her Spanish heritage and the techniques of Latin America. Fun fact: the name is an ode to Almudena’s favorite fruit, also known as soursop.

Pattern is Crooked

Only 4 stars because the patterned toe cap on the left shoe is sewn on crooked by nearly a full inch in comparison to the right shoe. I know they're handmade, so there are some slight variances, but for the price of the shoe, I would hope QC would have something like this be out of tolerance. Ultimately, it has no effect on the utility or function, but makes my foot look quite crooked. One of those things that once you see, you can't un-see.
