Following close behind tweed, cord and flannel in the fall classics lineup: the cable knit wool sweater. The fairly thick stitch, which was introduced in Ireland in the early 20th century, was a favorite of fishermen for the warmth it provided. It soon started popping up in sportswear on cricket, tennis and golf sweaters, before eventually becoming an Ivy League wardrobe staple by the 60s. Here, the classic gets a refresh in rich colors made for the season and a soft lambswool yarn. Get your fave, or get them all and consider your sweater setup sorted.

I was looking for something a little more bulky than a typical sweater, but not overly rigid and something that has basic style. This sweater is so versatile. It’s soft, casual, comfortable and has a nice shape to it. Great sweater to throw on over a t-shirt or over a collared shirt.
