Breaking in selvedge denim can be a daunting but rewarding task. Nothing compares to having a pair of denim perfectly shaped to your liking with the burn marks to match but it doesn’t come easy. In fact, it can take several months before you start to see any progress in the fading of your jeans.
The good news is that there are a few tips to speed up the process. For example, don’t throw away your old cell phone but firmly place it in your front pocket and leave it there. I usually end up putting my cell phone in my sport coat or jacket pocket for easier access anyway, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone by always keeping my old one in my denim pocket.
So over the course of the year, I’m going to break in a pair of Todd Snyder’s Indigo Selvedge Denim and document the process in a series called “Breaking-In.” Check back each month for progress shots and more tips on how to break in your denim.
