Knit from merino—a favorite for its soft, durable warmth and natural temperature-regulating abilities—in a chunky, three-gauge stitch, this crewneck sweater is brushed for a dense, textured finish. It features an adaptation of Vincent van Gogh’s (Dutch, 1853–1890)Irises(1890) in exceptional detail, digitally printed across the entire garment. Van Gogh painted this particular piece shortly before checking himself out of the asylum at Saint-Rémy; he sought a “harmonious and soft” effect by placing the “violet” flowers against a “pink background,” which have since faded owing to his use of fugitive red pigments. Here, Todd took a new perspective on this iconic image by turning it into a bold, repeating pattern that plays off of the flowers’ organic forms.
As part of its mission tocollect, study, conserve, and present significant works of art across time and cultures in order to connect all people to creativity, knowledge, ideas, and one another, The Metropolitan Museum of Art invited Toddto design a wearable, art-inspired collection. “The colors and brushstrokes of Van Gogh, Degas, and Manet feel incredibly modern, incredibly relevant,” says Todd of the pieces he chose to adapt for this unique collaboration.

I’m glad I waited for this to go on sale. Or maybe not because it was final sale. It’s not as beautiful as it is in the picture and It doesn’t seem as lux as I would expect from this collaboration. I have much nicer sweaters from TS
The sweater is exquisite. I wear it with off-white selvedge or indigo. Every time i wear this sweater, people comment on it. This one is a keeper for me. So happy!
Fabulous.
