The Montauk is our easy-wearing pull-on style surf short — consider it a luxe upgrade to the classic boardshort or “baggie.” Designed to hit mid-thigh, they look equally chic whether you’re lounging on land or in the blue room. The eye-catching blue coral pattern was pulled from the endpapers of a 19th-century natural history book, and will make for an excellent conversation starter at the pool, beach, or bar this summer — especially paired with the matching shirt and Vans.
This piece is part of a limited-edition capsule collection created by Todd Snyder and artist John Derian. The seaside-themed summer styles are all based on rare 18th- and 19th-century prints from Derian’s archive. “When John and I got together to design our second collection, [he] was talking about his store in Provincetown, MA,” says Snyder. “This Derian-at-the beach direction really appealed to me, and so we started looking at antique prints of harbor scenes and marine life.”
