As a longtime aficionado of vintage Champion, Mark McNairy seemed the perfect guest designer for Todd’s latest Champion capsule. “In the Nineties, I was traveling to Japan a lot, and my first stop was always this Champion store in Tokyo,” remembers McNairy. “They sold vintage styles that would make me lose my mind, and I started collecting them.”
The printed mesh fabric comes from Yarrington Mills, the same Pennsylvania-based company that makes classic football jerseys and uniforms. The basketball style short features an elastic waist, drawstring closure and short has a 7 ¼ inch inseam. The idea of burying a daisy in camo is for McNairy a “blend of war and peace.” There is a matching Daisy Camo Mesh Shirt if you’re in the market for a complete look.
These are really cool. The length and fit are refined. They also seem very sturdy. However, they seem to run on the larger side. I have a 30 inch waist, and needed to exchange the small for an extra small. Note that the waistband isn’t that clingy elastic you’d find in gym shorts.
These are great. They print is very unique and gives them a lot of character. The cut is also refined, not too long and not too baggy. The material seems durable. They run a little large though, and I had to size down. The waistband doesn’t have that elastic in it.
