The origins of the Car Coat are in its name: it was originally long, designed to keep motorists warm in early automobiles that were open to the elements. Over time, the term became synonymous with a shorter coat, one designed to hit at mid-thigh — ours goes a little shorter still, falling just below the waist. A bestseller last year, it’s back for the season in an Italian wool blend, a gray herringbone with a rugged look and feel. Design details include a single-breasted front, notched lapels, two welt-style hand pockets and cuff adjusters. It’s an easy, chic layering piece: start with a base layer, add a shirt, and move up to a sweater as the temps continue to dip.

This is a fabulous coat. So soft and cozy. You feel like a million bucks in this. I wore it out the other night and everyone was complimenting me on it. You just won't see another coat like this.
Love the coat. Soft and warm. I’m 6-1 and 175# and large fits great over a sweater. It may be Italian wool but the tag clearly says “made in Portugal”,
