Young Dunes grew out of Todd and perfumer David Seth Moltz’s mutual love of the beach. “We started off by talking about these masculine citrus fragrances from the Nineties,” remembers Moltz. “And the challenge became updating that and incorporating coastal notes like wooly beach heather.”

MEET YOUR MAKER: D.S. & DURGA

Founded by husband-and-wife team David Seth Moltz (D.S.) and Kavi Durga, this Brooklyn-based brand makes perfumes, candles and creams. David is a self-taught perfumer who created his own aromatic language — a rarity in the perfume industry. Kavi is a trained architect who builds their brand. They believe that “a great perfume is a keyhole into another realm; an invisible landscape that you can enter and explore any time.” Their fragrances are evocative of unique times, places and cultural moments, be it Big Sur After Rain or Notorious OUD.
