The Balmacaan (pronounced bal-MA-can) takes its name from the Scottish estate near Inverness where it was reportedly first seen in the 19th century. Our take retains one of the key attributes of a traditional balmacaan: raglan sleeves, which allow for easy movement and complements the slouchy-but-chic fit. There’s nothing slouchy about the fabrication, though — the cloth is made from a luxurious wool-and-cotton blend and is finished with genuine horn buttons.

I am pleased with my purchase of this charcoal Balmacaan coat. You should be too!
This is a gorgeous coat — it can dress up elegantly or dress down hip and cool with jeans. It has that plush, expensive-wool look, and it has a soft drape that gives it an always-comfortable feel and look. I would note that it definitely has “baggier” fit, which is not a disadvantage, but do keep that in mind as you size things. (I tend to wear XL in coats because of broad shoulders, but I downsized after ordering an XL. The Large still has that baggy look, but it’s a perfect fit. Remember, of course, that this is a winter coat, so there is room as it’s cut to fit a thicker sweater or another warm layered under layer.) Cool, cool, cool coat that will last for a long time — stylistically and structurally.
A great looking coat perfect for a real winter's day. Sufficiently ample to allow for layering without feeling crammed around arms or chest. It keeps one warm and coozy.
