The clean silhouette of the balmacaan meets the everyday practicality of a classic trench coat and the warmth of a parka. The balmacaan comes to us from 19th-century Scotland, and is named for an area near Inverness where it’s thought to have originated. Houndstooth is a Scottish pattern, too — it earned its name because it bore a passing resemblance to (you guessed it) the tooth of a hound. Tuck your hands into the two welt pockets, and trust the quilted down interior and lengthy cut to keep you warm in the face of the elements.
Excellent full length topcoat. Provides lots of warmth and ample pockets. Runs large (had to size down from my normal Medium) and still bunches a bit at the shoulders.
I have to say that the sizes are different across colors. Grey glenplaid coat is more relaxed than the brown honstooth one. I hope that TS keeps the same sizing at least for the same product but multiple colors...
