For the latest installment in Todd Snyder’s long-running collaboration with Timex, he went into the archives and back in time—to the 1970s, to a moment when quartz technology was new. The exclusive Q Timex keeps many of the iconic features of Timex’s original Q series—a rotating bezel, functional battery hatch, day-date feature, luminant hands, domed acrylic crystal—then adds a casual, cream-colored dial.
“I’ve always loved the Q series. They’re beautiful mid-century watches that date back to a time when quartz technology was changing the industry. And I wanted to design one that was a slightly more casual take, a hybrid between a dress watch and an off-duty one,” says Todd.

Nice little watch, great dial, easy to read at a glance. The only slight, very slight, downside is that the bracelet can be a bit of a hair puller and the edges are a little sharp. Still I am enjoying this little Timex.
Being new to the luxury watch game, this was supposed to be a trial to see if I liked having a metal band on my wrist. I am aware it’s not the best made; it’s no Rolex or even a Seiko—but it still makes me feel like a million bucks. I think it’s a stunning watch, and I’ve gotten more complements on this one against my others. I wish there was an automatic or hand-wind version of this watch. I enjoy hearing the clicks, but I don’t like seeing them, and that’s not necessarily a complaint. In fact, my only complaint is that the band occasionally pinches and pulls my arm hair—no idea how to fix that, considering the specific design of the band, but it’s only an issue every once in a while (thus four instead of five stars). I love the hard lines, and the cream face looks surprisingly nice against my wardrobe. I’m definitely going to be buying the blackface soon so I have options.
