Karl Lagerfeld once called photographer Roxanne Lowit “fashion’s historian… a witness to the marriage of vanity and fame.” While those aren't exactly our main motivations at Todd Snyder, we do admire those rare birds who deal exclusively in glitz and glamour. Thursday, 40 of Lowit's black and white photos and 20 large-scale color prints — capturing everyone from Kate Moss and Anna Wintour to Basquiat and Warhol — go on display for the retrospective Roxanne Lowit: Be Fabulous at Steven Kasher's Chelsea gallery. It's a great window onto the flash and fashion that fuels the crowd Lowit lovingly refers to as "people with magic."
Exhibition runs through January 18, 521 W. 23rd St. www.stevenkasher.com.
